  • AI Cuts Drafting Time, Not Professional Review Time
  • AI Cuts Drafting Time, Not Professional Review Time

AI can prepare a polished client draft in minutes. Professional firms still need time to verify sources, protect confidential data and approve the result.
    August 10, 2026 by
    Paolo Maria Pavan

Generative AI is speeding up client work across Dutch professional firms. Drafts, summaries and research notes can arrive within minutes. The evidence still needs checking, while deadlines, staff capacity and fees often leave too little time for that work.

    Why this matters

Clients pay for advice they can rely on. A polished AI draft can still contain a false reference, a weak tax assumption or the wrong client fact. Staff may also enter confidential data into an unsuitable tool. Review hours are under pressure. Work-pressure stress was reported in 30% of Dutch companies in the 2024–2025 monitor. Source checks, calculation checks and senior approval must remain in the job budget. Otherwise, margin can turn into rework, delayed invoices and fee disputes.

    Example

A junior adviser uses AI to prepare a client memo. The draft reads well and reaches the senior reviewer just before the deadline. The reviewer needs the client file, original sources, contract terms and calculation record. They also need to know what information entered the AI tool. If the diary allows ten minutes for approval, the process failed before the reviewer opened the memo. The firm has sold work it cannot check safely.

    XTROVERSO tips

    • Map three real workflows. Start with research, drafting and file summaries. Record the tool, data entered, output produced and person who approves it.
    • Set clear data boundaries. List approved tools and prohibited inputs. Include personal data, payroll records, tax positions, trade secrets and sensitive client files.
    • Check from conclusion to source. Take a recent AI-assisted file and work backwards. Each material claim should lead to an original source, client fact or calculation.
    • Budget review time separately. Keep production and assurance time visible in planning and pricing. Fixed-fee work still needs enough margin for proper review.
    • Give one person authority to stop delivery. Name the professional responsible for final approval. They must be able to delay a memo, filing or report when evidence is incomplete.
